Until very recently, building automated assistance meant creating a Web site and an IVR system to enable a limited form of customer contact. The main goal was to reduce costs by allowing customers to complete routine tasks without direct assistance from human agents. Today’s unprecedented growth in the adoption of smart phones and tablets along with the ubiquity of high speed wireless connections have vastly increased the possibilities for building more sophisticated and meaningful customer interactions. That’s why SpeechTEK 2012 will expand its focus to include smart phone and tablet applications.
