Patrick Ehlen is a cognitive psychologist and lead software engineer at AT&T. He received a Ph.D. from the New School for Social Research, specializing in psycholinguistics. An internship in the usability lab at Dragon Systems led him to wonder how to develop speech and multimodal interfaces that work how people expect them to. He tackled this problem at AT&T Research in New Jersey, and then at the Center for the Study of Language and Information at Stanford University.
